Sickest Holidays

Saturday, December 27, 2014

My guy has been sick for over a week. Fevers reaching all the way up to 40 degrees Celsius. Couldn't figure out what was going on, took him to the doctor and everything, since he didn't have a sore throat or anything like that until yesterday when BAM -- DOUBLE EAR INFECTION.

We have been pretty anxious to get them well (Sofia ended up having strep), since it was Christmastime and we've got two new babies on my side (one month old and another a mere 3 days old), and then on my husband's side there are two little cousins. I mean other than just trying to keep them from infecting everyone, we wanted them to be able to enjoy Christmas!

Hubby's ended being sick, and my mom too. Only my dad, Maya and I have managed to escape the clutches of illness this time round. Weird thing is that everyone has something completely different!

Anyhow, looking on the bright side of things, we had a lovely Christmas being to spend time with everyone. There is so much to be grateful for... Including being able to take care of one another when we're not feeling well. The support we can give one another during times when we're down is something that is the most precious and shouldn't be taken for granted.

So, while it has been quite a bit of work  being up in the night with our feverish children administering medication (we're up to our third large bottle of Tylenol in a week!) and getting drinks of water and letting hubby rest to recover himself, I'm looking at this as a chance for my children to feel the tender side of love from their mother who can be a bit on the hard side at times. I guess it's working cause my boy just climbed up beside as I was napping on the couch and fell asleep in my arms.

It's been a lot of soup-making and temperature taking over this last week. Hopefully the kids'll be better for part of this school break so we can get out of the house and do something together more fun!

Like, what the hey?!

Gave her a little gift first thing this morning ... If you can't see, it's a "Little Miss" mug. And this one is "Little Miss Fun". And that's who she is--my little miss fun! She loves to make people laugh. She can't stand to see her baby sister cry. She will work hard to make her smile. This girl LOVES life; bouncing up from her bed every morning to take on the day (often earlier than I am ready for). I pray she never, ever, ever changes. What a gift she is to me and our little family.
