Inside Man

If you're planning on watching "Inside Man" do not continue to read on.
------------------------------------------------------------

Gonzo and I took my parents to see 'Inside Man' tonight. The movie was terrible. I was planning on writing what I thought about it, but now that I think about it, I'm too tired.

What I will say, however, is that the premise of the movie is amazing. Unfortunately, when you come out at the end, there is no point to the movie. Themes were weak. Women objectified. False endings (felt like the movie was coming to an end at least 3 times). Pacing was bad.

What is also too bad are all the actors that are involved:
- Jodie Foster
- Clive Owen
- Christopher Plummer
- Denzel Washington

I love all these actors. They got involved in a movie that Gonzo figured looked good on paper - but didn't turn out so well on screen.

Anyway, tomorrow is Easter Sunday! We're going to Parkway Forest (one of APC's satellite churches). This will be the first time I'll be at a different church other than APC on Easter Sunday in FOREVER. I am looking forward to it. And then tomorrow night is our last Easter presentation. Phew. Looks like we're gonna make it.

Movies

Waiting to watch...

- Inside Man
- The Da Vinci Code
- X-Men 3
- Cars
- Nacho Libre
- Poseidon
- Miami Vice

Yeah, yeah, some of these movies aren't listed here for expected cinematic excellence, but sometimes, you've gotta watch a movie 'cause you've gotta watch a movie.

In talking about Miami Vice, someone said, "...a movie? Miami Vice wasn't even a good show!" I know. But hey, it's Miami Vice. I've gotta see that with Massimi.

Easter Presentation

We are in the final lap of finishing up this Easter Video for the Presentation at our church. It's been a bit of a tough go, but I think that we've learned a lot about how to do it the next time 'round. Yes. The next time 'round.

I am so proud of this piece. Matt and Jeff have really brought it to life with the soundtrack and the audio mixing. Honestly, Gonzo and I were concerned that it was going to be boring. But I don't think that anymore.

I am currently exporting the video AGAIN. This is now the fifth time. I found a typo. Then Gonzo found a typo. Then Gonzo found a couple of frames where the clapper shows up. It's annoying. The process is as follows:

- 7 minutes: Export from Final Cut to .mov
- 20 minutes: drag .mov file to the server
- 20 minutes: drag .mov file to the laptop
- 30 minutes to process the .mov into iMovie

We're going to be displaying it in iMovie because we felt that it presented it the titles the crispest in iMovie. In QuickTime we were getting pixelation. We're presenting it on the computer because we felt that it would be more reliable than play and pausing on the DVD player. We have not had such good luck with that.

Anyway, I'm excited for this weekend, and see what people's response will be.

Tonight I took the night off from working (I usually work 10 to 10 on Wednesdays), 'cause I'll be at the church all weekend - yay! Easter! I was already at the church until 10pm last night from the dress rehearsal.

Anyway, tonight I finally got a good chance to clean up the wreak-of-a-house that we live in, vacuumed, did two loads of laundry, industrial-cleaned our washroom... all the clutter is still here though. Will have to deal with that on another day. Definitely not all by myself.

So yeah, that is one of the reasons why I work so long on Wednesdays: 'cause Gonz is out working too. Look, I'm in my wedding dress 'cause I had nothing else to do (for once). It's fun that I can still wear it. Getting a little snug...

Next thing: a little bit of exercise.

Time for Spring

Tuesday, April 11, 2006

Yeah, this template is nice for spring. How happy I am that spring is finally here! I see all the people, who are just like me, already pulling out the sandals. I got reprimanded heavily by the weather, however, the one day last week I did wear a skirt and sandals. I was FREEEEEEZING. So, I will wait until it's well above 15 degrees before I bust out the sandals again.

Although, I did buy a whole new pair. So excited. I want to wear them now!

Okay, is there anything I can talk about that's less ... superficial?

Not much today. Just realizing I could use a good vacation. The last time I had a "vacation" was when I went to NYC to visit my cousin Kaye back in March 2005. And that was only for 4 days. Hopefully I can learn to take a little bit easier this summer and plan some good weekend getaways. The only thing about that is everyone has the same idea as I do - traffic all the way there, and traffic all the way back.

Sunday night, I helped my friend Jonathan edit his thesis for his Master's. I felt pretty honoured that he would entrust an entire chapter to me. He's only been preparing for it all year (two years?). Anyway, unfortunately now, you're probably proof reading my blog here and wondering why the heck would he give his thesis to me! It was fun, however, and we probably wasted a good portion of 2 hours when we first got there. Around 9 o'clock we buckled down and really started editing. Oh, "we" is Christine and I. Christine was kind enough to join me and work on part of his paper as well.

Nothing interesting to report today. The Woodlands brought me back fries from Kentucky Fried Chicken fries, which was a nice conclusion to my I'm-gonna-start-eating-healthy-lunch of chicken breast and salad. YUM! FRIES!

testing, testing, 1, 2, 3

Monday, April 10, 2006

These past few days...er, probably more accurately, weeks, have been really testing. Testing my insides. Today was particularly trying. However - if I stand outside of myself for moment, to cool to see what I'm REALLY like. When the pressure is ON.

What was particularly difficult today was the realization that sometimes people's intentions aren't always that pure.
Probably even my own. Keeping it straight is not always easy.

at the church.... still...

Saturday, April 08, 2006

This past few weeks I've been living at the church. But unlike other times, this time 'round I don't really mind it. I guess it's because I'm here due to Gonzo being involved with the Easter stuff at the church. I mean, see how crazy this can be: after I finish working, Gonzo will arrive at the church to start editing on my computer here, and then I just stay with him. It's like double shifts here. Oh well, it's just for a time.

Yeah, but after this "time"... I want a vacation.
And I'm thinking San Francisco. Yeah... We'll see.

I have to do my taxes. Then maybe I'll have the cash to go.
That's a horrible way to think: get my taxes, and blow it on a vacation. I think that I should try my best to most of it away. It's like someone did some extra saving for me and just handed me the benefits.

Anyway, I still want a vacation. But maybe I'll just work on getting some sleep soon.
I still haven't had dinner, and I'm still at the church. This is getting illegal.

1:00am

Wednesday, April 05, 2006

I just finished making sauce for my spaghetti. This is so I'll have lunch at work. Otherwise, I'll have to spend exhorbitant amounts of money on food that just makes me fat.

I was excited that when I was done, I looked on my oven clock and it said: 12:09. Then I came to my computer to write a blog, and I saw 1:05am. I am now instantly tired.
